Our dad invented the first dishwasher basket. He saw the very real need to contain all the small feeding parts that go flying when left on their own in a dishwasher.  He even patented the nipple placement on the bottom of the basket, which, when placed in a dishwasher, is directly over the water jets, ensuring the nipples come clean.
